My 40th birthday party
Posted: 17 Oct 11 8:57 AM New
Pud I'm thinking about doing something on Friday 11th November or Saturday 12th November. Saturday 12th is the preferred date. I don't want to do anything large, so I'm thinking pub and meal.

Anyone interested? Please reply here if you are. I'll need to book a restaurant.

At this point, I'm not sure whether to do something easy, around the South Croydon / Sanderstead / Purley area or travel a little further afield (into the country towards Ramblers Rest or up to town towards Clapham Junction / London Bridge / Victoria).

I'm thinking it's going to be easier to stay in Purley. Depending on numbers, I quite like the idea of Zorna spice (an Indian restaurant) or Dan Thai (Thai restaurant). But if a large number of people end up coming along (and I'm thinking 10+), then somewhere like Pizza Express might be better.

For drinking venues, there's the Jolly Farmers or Foxley Hatch.

If you have any suggestions, please post them here. On my birthday, Maria will be 38 weeks pregnant, so we can't go too far afield, which is why I'm thinking it's just going to be easiest if we stay around the Purley area.

Pud Just thinking out aloud - Warlingham might be better - it's still local and there are some good restaurants and pubs there. Then there's also Botley Hill farm??

So in Warlingham could do The White Lion, followed by the Indian restaurant on the green? That's probably nicer than Purley.

Pud I've just spoken to Maria and as we will probably be doing something with our family on Sunday 13th, Friday 11th is the preferred date to do something with you guys and NOT Saturday 12th. I think the rationale behind this is that I will then have Saturday to recover for a posh meal on Sunday, in the event that I have one or two too many drinks with you guys - which let's face it, I probably will! jungle The restaurant choice at Warlingham is not a good one as Tarlty will testify to from a fairly recent visit conducting a rubyandpissup.com assessment.
There are a couple of possibilities but I suppose all is dependant on the number of souls who would like to see UD get bladdered...could any interested parties please contact me to advise of potential attendance? jeremy.faulkner@orange.net. TA! Eek

Pud No problem, Jo. Just so you know, we are still discussing the date, so it could change. We're going to make a decision this weekend and then send out an email / update this website.

And shortly, I will be sending out details for Christmas drinks, so there'll be another opportunity to meet everyone. (I thought I would get the birthday drinks out of the way first.) The Christmas drinks will be in London Bridge, like last year.

It rather surprises me, but the domain rubyandpissup.com is actually taken (although does not appear to be in use).
