Pud In case any of you have been trying to contact me, my mobile phone is currently broken. I dropped it some weeks back and the screen cracked. I tried repairing it, but it doesn't work at all now. I should have a new phone in the next day or two.

Bob Could you not get a replacement screen?

I was quite surprised with myself about a month back when I finally got fed up with having a bit of fluff on the inside of the lens on the camera on my phone.

80 steps later and I finally got to the stage where I could remove the fluff and then reverse the procedure to put it back together.

I was even more surprised when everything worked.

Pud I did buy a replacement screen for £33 from eBay, but couldn't fit it. I did try with a colleague of mine who is an expert at fixing phones, but we couldn't do it. It was very fiddly. When I called several phone repair shops, they all said they couldn't fix my particular type of phone - you need to replace at a very minimum the screen and the LCD unit behind it.

While the screen was fairly cheap, if you add in the LCD + labour, you're almost at the price of a second hand phone from eBay. So, I decided to buy a phone from eBay. The particular one that I have bought has never been used. Apparently this phone was given as a free upgrade, but the eBay seller wanted to continue using their iPhone.
