Bob Poood & Maria

Happy Anniversary. Did you have a good day out yesterday?

Hitch's was quite a laugh yesterday. A bit of a low key event but still quite a laugh. The usual suspects were there i.e. Scott, Kelly and Ellie, Peter, Jodie, Anya and Grace, Sam, Mark, Saskia (sp?) and Jensen, Mitch, Jez Russell, Bill and Old BIll, Jez, Tarlty and I. Quite a laugh. In the evening, Bill, Jez and I went out for a meal at the Comodor and Jez got slightly drunk.

So Poood, 1 yr on and you still haven't got round to putting your wedding photos on the website.

Talk to you soon

Doc J Yeah, sorry I couldn't make Hitch's drinks this year - car trouble (again) !

Not sure the poor Metro is going to make it to Birmingham and back this year. Cry

Doc J Well, as there's still no Pud, here's another quick Q.

Seeing as I missed Hitch's bash, are people doing anything on Xmas eve ? I seem to remember the Rail View a few years back . . . let me know.

Yeah, sorry Doc J! I am still trying to get the latest code updates deployed on this site so I can upload photos again. Hopefully not too long to wait!!

Tea at the Ritz was cool. Nice sandwiches and cakes, oh and loads of Earl Grey tea. I did manage to find a jacket. I had an old suit jacket that went OK with my black trousers, so everything was fine!

It's quite touristy at the Ritz. I guess every tourist wants to have tea there! And because not everyone knew about the jacket rule, often the gents had to keep their coats on and that counted as a jacket!!

I don't think I will make any Xmas eve bash. We have the parents over on Christmas day and judging by the amount of preparation we've done so far, we'll be working into the Xmas eve night!!

Doc J No, I think I went along in 2002 & 2003, or maybe it was 2001 and I'd left already.

It was a small turnout last time I went - Harry, Jez, Bob, Tarlty and Dawes I think. Possibly Dicko, it was a few years ago anyway.

Obviously we will be out, Haven't got a scooby as to where yet. Meet at the Library and wait until 9.30pm as Jez has got to get his Mum to run a bath. I'm not sure whether she still test the temperature of the water with her elbow or just runs it as hot as possible as he will still take an hour to faff around before getting in itSmile

Doc J, it would be good to see you and Lisa.

So here's the thing...

Almost 6 years after the wedding, we still hadn't got back to the photographer with our photo selection. I contacted him a few months back and said, "You remember our wedding? We'd like to make our photo selection now".

The good news is we won the competition for longest ever duration between event and collection of photos. And our prize? ... All the negatives from the day.

So I have spent the last 2 weeks scanning them and they'll be making an appearance in the next few days.

Bob So let me get this straight. Have you not paid your photographer for 6 years or have you just not collected the photos for 6 years.

Why are you scanning the negatives? Or can you then do something in Photoshop to create the picture from the negatives? Will look forward to seeing them.

Pud We paid the photographer up front. He took 100s of photos. About 200 were selected and given to us in a folder (low quality prints). We were then supposed to select 30 photos that he would use to make an album out of. Any extra photos above the 30 or any extra albums would be charged for (at an exuberant rate).

This was back in the day when digital cameras were quite rare and under the original deal, we didn't get to keep the negatvies. The book of 200 photos were low quality prints, so not really good enough to scan.

We never chose the 30 photos and when I eventually got back to him, he just said take all of the negatives. I have an Epsom V750 scanner, which I have used to scan the wedding negatives, and which I am also using to scan other negatives that I am posting this week.

It's a remarkably good scanner, producing really good images at 2,400 dpi, 48-bit colour from the original negatives.

Bob So has he given you all the negatives or just the 200 that were low quality prints?

Pud We've got all the negatives and they're pretty good. They're mainly formal photos from the start of the day. There are no evening shots and not too many of the Sanderstead crowd.
