Really glad we paid the extortionate money for this photo. It's the only photo I have of Beth, Jo Gallagher and of both Doc J and I looking just so studenty. Makes me want to grow my hair long again.

Glad I had the long hair when I did - it's falling out in handfuls these days.
And don't forget that was the day when the Polo became "air cooled", after pissing out the radiator on Jo Gallagher's drive. I remember her saying "Er, should it be doing that" . . . priceless !

Yeah, priceless! I seem to remember those two were a good laugh. Slightly mad. But a good laugh! It was Jo G that got me into Cardiacs.

Hail majestic corporate light Heaven born and ever bright

I'm guessing you got that from the Cardiacs website. I doubt you know that lyric off by heart. I know all the lyrics from the song you just quoted. We used to chant it, with our hands in the air, at the start of Cardiacs concerts. What fun!

Nope - remembered it all by myself, thank you very much !
Although admittedly it's probably the only bit I do remember, although the next but one line is "loose fish walk as like one dead" I think.
Don't forget that I went to see them in Reading with you Pud, and you did me a tape with a few of their tracks on it, including the one above. I think I still have the tape, although with all the advances in technology since then, I no longer have a tape player. Or a record playe, despite having a huge collection of vinyl back at my parent's house

Hmm. Loose fish. Shit. Reading. I'd kind a forgotten about that. Did we go with Beth and Jo, then?
I told Maria we went to Reading and she always assumed that I'd gone for the weekend. She was disappointed when she found out we drove there, saw the Cardiacs, then drove back. I can remember moshing to Cardiacs, but that's about all I can remember.
BTW, I have the same problem as you. A few tapes and tonnes of records which I can no longer play. Having said that, most of them are Iron Maiden records so I probably wouldn't listen to them anyway. Although I still like the nostalgia of listening to a classic IR track!

We went with one of your Uni friends in the old Dolomite. I got home with bruises all over my chest from the barrier (we were right at the front), and was unable to hear anything for 24 hours as we were stood by the speakers.
Ah, the joys of youth

I'm guessing we must've gone with Eliot Chadwick, then? Either that or Chris Scales? Anyway, it's probably in the diary. We'll just have to wait until that bit...
You say Ah, the joys of youth. I'm practically deaf now. But it was worth it!

Parden??!!
